Dear Friends,
I would like to welcome you to this website, that briefly describes our practise, the services we offer and our philosophy.
Some of the greatest historical, political and business leaders have been avid collectors of antiquities such as Pompeii, Julius Caesar and even Thomas Jefferson. Financial titans such as J. Paul Getty to J.P. Morgan to William Randolph Hearst also amassed enormous and impressive collections. In fact, much of the inspiration for Picassos work lay in Cycladic Art. For centuries collecting antiquities has been regarded as both prestigious and immensely fulfilling. One of the reasons Antiquities has always fostered such enormous appeal to private individuals is because these works of art, despite being thousands of years old still have enormous aesthetic appeal. Antiquities are very decorative; they compliment a minimalist and contemporary setting.
However, when somebody chooses to purchase a work of art an intimate bond is forged between the buyer and the object, the object can no longer be used solely to decorative a room. Rather, the collector realizes there is a radiant beauty within this object, a delicacy and a strength that has transcended thousands of years. Only when this intimacy develops does one become a collector, and we feel we have done our job.
We never encourage a collector to acquire a work of art that he or she does not feel strongly about. The Gallery’s emphasis is on beauty, we passionately believe that when acquiring a work of art it must be perfect, the collector must allow no compromise. Our role is to act as the advisors on a journey that every collector should find rewarding, exciting and gratifying.
The Gallery is open to all visitors, students, collectors and international institutions, and we look forward to your visit.
Yours truly,
David Aaron
